Grandpa
My parents' coal heap was sifted last week to separate out the nuggets from the slack and dust.
I only spent 2 or 3 minutes picking out a bit more of the coal that i could see in that slack and dust, but here's the effect on my hand.
Hard to imagine my poor grandpa - a miner till the General Strike - at the end of a shift. And my granny, having to make sure there was enough soap and hot water for him when he got back.
