Homeward bound
We went along to the War Memorial this morning to watch the parade come along the Esplanade. It was an unfortunately dull day, but about 10.55 it began to rain and by the time the ceremony began it was coming down steadily.
It was bad enough for those of us with waterproofs on, but I felt sorry for some of the old gentlemen who were bare-headed and be-suited, standing patiently and getting ever wetter. Even the local firemen were wearing short-sleeved shirts and no jackets.
By the time it was over everyone was soaked, and it was a sodden populace who began their weary plod homeward. Good to see so many people taking the trouble to come out to commemorate the fallen.
I would have Blipped a picture of the War Memorial, but from where I was standing every picture had a street lamp through the middle of it. I wish somebody had thought about it and sited it 20ft further on! OK, I'll put one on as an extra as long as you promise not to look at it!
