The new Street War Memorial after this afternoon's Remembrance Service and wreath-laying ceremony.

We met up with Kate, Sophie & Chris in Bridgwater this morning to buy presents for Kate's birthday next weekend, then spent a jolly couple of hours inthe soft play centre where Sophie enjoyed wearing Uncle Chris out by insisting he went on all the various inflatable play items with her. He didn't need much encouragement.

We were back in Street in time to catch the parade through the High Street at the end of the service. Apparently there is some controversy about the new memorial, with some of the more conservative locals thinking it's not traditional or big enough; personally, I think it's very attractive and fitting in its modern simplicity.
