What a difference a day makes!

Today 27 Haltwhistle long walkers made the journey to Kielder forest to go on a bastle walk. Bastles were fortified farmhouses, built in the wild times of the Border Reivers. We saw several, in various states of decay, although one was intact and was used for a performance of Hamlet 2 years ago.

Our route included some quiet narrow roads where we expected no traffic. Here is one of the timber lorries bearing down on us at great speed, taking no prisoners! I've used a processing effect to give the lorry a bit of a glow.

I nearly forgot to mention the perfect weather. It was cold, bright and sunny all day. Tomorrow should be the same.
