Holding the heavens

Inside the dome that lights up the grand entrance hall at the Fitzwilliam Museum there are a number of sturdy chaps who stop the heavens falling down upon us.

If they were female they would be Caryatids, but because they are blokes they are called Telamones or Atlantes.

Not many people know that :)
