Guido Guidi
It is strange how all of a sudden you became aware of a photographer and his importance although he has been active for many years and and you kind of have been aware of his existence but not much more than that. It happened to me with Paul Graham, than later on with Mark Steinmetz both of them becoming part of the my favourite photographers group. Latest such discovery is Guido Guidi 70 year old Italian photographer. He existed somewhere in the periphery of my awareness and I recently purchased his book as part of TBW annual series but quickly dismissed it as one of those difficult art photographers more conceptual than photographer . But than reading recent interview with Garry Johansson where he says that Guidi is “way above [my heroes] Eggleston and Shore” made no other choice but to jump deep into his work. And what a surprise. Quiet provisional (his words) moments captured, nothing heroic just looking at dignities of everyday life
