What Education?
The nation-wide strike continues. French universities are still fighting to get President Sarkozy to repeal his policies on easing the process in which to become a higher education instructor. According to my translation lecturers, professors and students are protesting against an educational system that will yield below par quality teachers. The aim of the strike is to maintain the quality of learning that students receive. However, while Sarkozy's policies are in effect, the education that future French students will obtain will decline.
By the end of this week, the protest will have lasted for three weeks. Professors have been canceling classes to perturb students into becoming active in the strike and at the same time attract attention from the government in order to resolve the weakened educational structure. Nevertheless, professors have been forced to hold classes since the academic year is already too short. Further striking would be detrimental to students' educations as weeks of material have already been missed.

After classes today, I went downtown to take care of some errands, like printing some documents, buying books (finally), and buying my 12-25 train card. With the 12-25 card I can save up to 60% on train tickets! Although, as I was getting off at Victoire, there was a ring of students on the square and they were protesting. Luckily, I had brought my SLR and I was able to take some cool shots. I felt like a journalist getting in the action and not caring what people thought of me. haha. Also, I met some other Californians interested in the strike. Elita had brought her camera too and we were snapping away. It was fun.
