The River Don Engine...
...at Kelham Island Museum today...
We've only been once before, and the engine was out of use for maintenance. Today we took John and we were lucky! We saw - and heard - it in action at both the noon and 2pm presentations. For the second one we were joined by two beautifully behaved school groups, who gave a lovely round of applause at the end ;)
Built in 1905 and used at the Grimesthorpe Works until 1978, it is the biggest and most powerful steam engine in Britain today. The rest of the museum is equally interesting and entertaining ;)
