Inside the hen house

I took this photo as I was letting the girls out this morning. This lot are a bit shy and don't all rush for the door like others I've had. We're experimenting with a sand floor as recommended by all the chicken fanciers on Pinterest! It's going well so far, but I'm not sure how we deal with them sleeping, and pooping in the nesting boxes, apart from taking their steps away.
They haven't started laying eggs yet, so we have that to look forward to. Someday.
