Skagit River Side Channel Enhancement
Well it was a pretty nice day for late November in the PacNW. Got to spend the day looking at side channels in the Skagit and Sauk River. This a side channel in the lower river that provides critical off-channel refuge to juvenille salmon during high flows and summer habitat during lower flows. While connected with the main channel it's not very complex (notice the nice trapezodial shape) so we're evaluating ways to increase complexity and cover using large wood.
