Kampong Glam
Today Mrs CBL and I ventured into the Arab quarter of Singapore which is known as Kampong Glam. It’s name is thought to be derived from the cajeput tree, called "gelam" in Malay. Kampong simply means "village".
At the centre of Kampong Glam is the city’s biggest mosque, the Masjid Sultan (or Sultan Mosque). It’s huge golden dome and four minarets can be seen clearly from a distance.
The streets that surround the mosque are very colourful (see extras).
The main image is of the main prayer hall.
Today’s treat to accompany our coffees was a pink guava mousse/cake!
