Yew 5 - Finished Frames
I have to say this straight away - No, Kaybee, I'm not giving Kat a framed photograph of the interior or the studio, it's a mirror!
There we have it, 3 frames made out of a bundle of rough yew boards. The one in the centre contains a beautiful print of a fantasy painting by Margaret Walty which Kat had bought recently. It's called Late Spring. If you follow the link you'll see that it is a painting done with the precision of W. Keeble Martin's Concise British Flora BUT with added matching dragons to the flowers!
The empty frame is made ready for when we detour by Langholm at Christmas for Kat to look at more prints. It's far easier to make 2 together when the machines are set up. I then couldn't resist using some spare, but poorer wood for a third which has been fitted with a mirror.
I have a little idea to further personalise these frames but, more of that later, if it happens!
A great week with The Mate filling in a place on his cabinet-making course. The normal projects suggested are much more interesting than this and have the wood ready bought in and machined to rough sizes so the students get on faster than I have done.
