I must admit I enjoyed yesterday morning very much, watching Twitter and the news sites as cabinet ministers resigned over May's string and sellotape proposal for the withdrawal agreement. After two years, what she delivered was akin to homework that had been done on the bus. And while the Brexiters might have been vocal in their distain for her and the deal she is promoting, the truth is that none of them have ever provided a viable alternative.
Today feels a bit more like a hangover. Where we are now comes as no surprise, not least because the Leavers have always ignored the situation with Northern Ireland - too difficult - until it could be avoided no longer and then, of course, the wheels started to come off. And during the last two years, none of our politicians has made any effort to heal the malaise of painful division that Cameron successfully transferred from the Tory party to the nation at large.
So it was with mixed feelings that I noticed my neighbour was flying the EU flag on his pole, today, against a background of appropriately grey skies. Futile as it seems, I still hope we can remain.
