The land of pink and blue

The winter flowering cherry is doing its thing, so I suppose we have to accept that the season has definitely changed and we are now in Winter.  Midwinter Day is just less than 5 weeks away, so that judgement seems not unreasonable.  

The Winter solstice always seems to come too early during the Winter from my perspective - Winter doesn't generally seem to take hold until the end of November, even though the nights are longer and the days shorter.  Whereas after Christmas we have the worst part of Winter to get through and some years it does seem to like to hang on forever.....
