Orienteering in the Sunshine
We orienteered in Roundhay Park this morning after a long, enforced break whilst we lived through Tony's diagnosis, treatment and recovery. It was good to catch up with folks from our Club and beyond. We decided to do the same level course with Tony walking around it and me attempting to run! Probably the least said the better about my result, very rusty!
A quick turnaround shower and lunch at home and we were back out in to the sunshine to act as 'sweepers' for K's 11th Birthday Treasure Hunt in St Ives. We had planned the hunt with mum, Hobbler Sally, and Tony had drawn up the map. Great excitement ran through the wood as the teams set off. They had puzzles to solve, treasure to locate and they had to get by Grumpy Grandad and the Gatekeeper (dad Ian!) answering their questions and providing the correct passwords, all great fun! Back at the cricket club the youngsters bashed a pinata and sang Happy Birthday and went home full of sugar!
Replete with pizza, tea and cake, we also turned for home at the close of a busy, enjoyable day.
