The Next Big Thing...

...is the BBC Big Sing and here are some members of the massed choir arriving at McEwan Hall early this afternoon. The 'small things' are the different carols and hymns we recorded for the Christmas and Hogmanay broadcasts, under the baton of Ken Burton, and the Big Sing Orchestra, with the Edinburgh University Renaissance Singers providing the main choral support.

Although we had little to do during the afternoon we were entertained by the rehearsals of compères Aled Jones and Katherine Jenkins (extra photo, from my seat - sorry about the blinding light...), their own performances, Russell Watson and Susan Boyle, along with Collabro, The Overtones and the Ayoub sisters. 
Edit: I forgot to mention the piper, Louise Marshall, who appears on the Hogmanay programme - not to be missed!

Then it was time for the take, and retakes as necessary, then a fond farewell to the new-found friends with whom we performed.

The broadcasts will be on Sunday December 23rd and Sunday December 30th on BBC One.
