The day went from good (successful early shop), to bad (my aunt's central heating wasn't working), to good (an engineer was out in half an hour), to bad (part needed), to good (pleasant drive home with lovely hazy Lake District views), to bad (queuing traffic from Rydal to Ambleside).

United Utilities had chosen what is possibly the busiest weekend of the year (Christmas lights switch on and lantern procession) to dig up the road at the bottom of Kirkstone and put up 3 way traffic lights.

Photo taken when I went out for milk (on foot). Best of a bad selection from the day.
