unsere Väter/our Fathers

Norbert and I combined the photos of our Fathers taken during the Second World War. Mine, Matthew (Matt) was in the Burma Army having lived and worked (as a civilian) in Burma since the 1930s. Nobby's Dad, Adolf (Dolf) was in the Luftwaffe after being called up. My Dad was murdered during the Malayan Emergency in 1949 a month or two before his first leave since my birth so we never met but Dolf and I met in West Berlin in the 1970s. We got on really well. As Remembrance Day approaches I think of them and the twists of fate that affected their lives so profoundly .
