Worlds apart

Accessible only by boat or a five-mile walk, the residents of Scoraig live in relative isolation, partly powering their homes and school with wind power.

Today several folk pointed me to this BBC article about Scoraig, where I stayed for a year and a half in the early nineties: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/in-pictures-45046023

I went there to help set up the 1990 festival (photos: http://scoraig.kirkurd.net) - having enjoyed the one at Achmore in ‘88 so much - and ended up staying, at the invitation of the Brudenell’s. (Aggie is featured in the BBC article).

In a strange echo of crofting days, I found myself moving my sheep tonight - in the dark. It has been going noisily crazy, waking Robbie up at dawn. Sheep are not solitary animals and now it has been reunited with its sisters.
