Well I didn’t get a wink of sleep all night. Partly the new circumstances I was getting used to, but also a really busy and noisy night on the ward with the lights being turned on full twice during the night to provide assistance to other patients. In he end I gave up on trying to drop off and watched a film on the iPad. I caught the nurse sitting at the computer, using an iPhone to enter health data for patients. Things have certainly changed.

The surgeon came around at 8:30 am to see me. He was very happy with the operation and after asking a couple of questions was quite happy for me to come home today. Of course, that doesn’t mean an immediate exit, in fact I didn’t finally leave until 4:45 pm. I’m getting used to the regime of carrying out the various tasks. I won’t go into details, it’s not really for polite company. I’m out of commission for most of the period up to Christmas, so watch out for plenty of EB’s.
