Bright eyes

It is in the single digits out there today and the wind , when blowing , is pretty nasty. All bird feeders have been filled and the activity has been high. I was relieved to count 5 chickadees at the feeder , so I am hoping that last years low count of 2 was due to an abundant seed year making the feeders unnecessary.
The variety of birds was good today as well though only 1 pine siskin and 1 white throated sparrow showed up. The extras are a house finch and junco happily munching their Thanksgiving meals, though the finch seems to be trying to stuff itself.
The most important bird of the day  of course, is the turkey , currently roasting in the oven. I pulled out an old Bon Appetite recipe for garlic and rosemary turkey and did a stuffing with artichokes , chestnuts and parmesan ( a slight variation on another  stuffing that used sausage not chestnuts- but I don't particularly like sausage ). We'll see how that comes out! HAPPY THANKSGIVING everyone!
