A seemingly good assessment day but after the last one I'm not yet willing to count chickens! Less than half of the expected applicants turned up. In fact, as I was being greeted by our host a lady burst through the door and exclaimed, "This is not for me!". When I got into the "waiting room" (aka, the staff rest room) I found I was the oldest person there. Well, I think so - there's an Australian guy with a MASSIVE beard so I can't guess his age (OK, if you insist, he's in the 20 - 300 age bracket). The rapidly exiting lady was probably in my age bracket (35 - 40) (shut up) and I wondered if she just felt awkward being amongst so many YOUNG people. But then some other fossils like myself turned up. We'll never know.
I'm back in tomorrow (and Saturday and Sunday) for further training and assessment.
In other news, I took the top off my left thumb whilst chopping cabbage. Just the fleshy bit - not even the slightest bit of nail went into my dinner!
My goodness! It bled! I didn't know what to do to make it stop. Eventually I just put the bit of skin back on and bound the whole bloody thing up with micropore tape. I'll have a look tomorrow. Maybe.
