Carol: Rosie & Mr. Fun

2018 Thursday — Thanksgiving Day

At about 4:30 we walked the pups to the Third St. beach lookout, which is three streets below us. My sunset photos from our place look over the top of this area.

Holiday dinner was in the oven as we walked. Sunset would be in about 20 minutes, and we walked back to the house to see it. The walk back is a gradual uphill, so the pups (senior citizens nowadays) are exhausted when we get back (and we are too).

This little coastal village reminds me of “stadium seating” because each street that faces the ocean is a level higher as we walk away from the shore . . . Pacific Avenue is closest to the shore (with houses between the shore and the street). Then a level walk to Ocean Avenue, which is the main street thru this community, the Sea Shanty restaurant and the little grocery store are on the corner of Third St. (which becomes Park Avenue as it crosses Ocean Avenue). Then we pass St. Mary Street and the climb begins as we pass the Catholic Church and Park Avenue makes a big right-hand curve/or turn to the south and becomes the highest street from the shore. Continuing to walk on Park Avenue, we pass 4th Street on our right-hand side. Fourth ends at Park Avenue and has a steep downhill going toward Ocean Avenue. And so with all that written, it’s approximately a five minute walk to our house from the shore.

Back at the house we watched the sun setting and then that big ol orange ball was gone — mesmerizing and magnificent — after sighing and marveling, we put dinner for two on our plates and snorted and oinked and pigged out! Then we slipped into a tryptophan nap.

I wonder about your Thanksgiving, well if you are in America.

Rosie (& Mr. Fun), aka Carol
