Beached Boat

There were a few things that needed sorting on our motorhome and we are trying to get as much done as possible while we are in the 3 month warranty period.  The heater in the van was not working properly so a new part was ordered by the supplier - we set aside some time and drove to Gloucester to have it fitted.  Unfortunately, it's another part that needs replacing.  While we had the full attention of the MH mechanic (lovely chap) we pointed out a few other things we had noticed which may well have been 'user error' but did, in fact, need further attention.  They will be sorted - no problem, - but it will need another trip to Gloucester.  Fortunately, we are getting to really like the area, and very happy to drift this way again.

So we are now on a site near Slimbridge (which we plan to visit tomorrow, despite a poor weather forecast).  We are warm (thanks to the additional help of a cheap fan heater purchased from Gloucester Argos store) and have had a meal with a glass of wine  - or two.

Before hooking up at this site, we went to the 'Ships's Graveyard'.  Really fascinating - where ships were deliberately beached to provide  protection for the river banks from the strong River Severn tides; they seem to have done the job.  Twenty years ago this would have been a much better photographic opportunity but few wrecks remain today.  Light was fading fast and I was fortunate to get a few images with the last of it - long exposure built up in 25 sec bursts -  I hope we will be able to return another time to explore this aspect of a 'coastal' landscape.
