Kolkata Bus

After a fascinating guided tour this morning of buildings originating in the period of British rule in India (now largely used by current authorities) and a drive through other parts of the city, we had a relaxing afternoon in our hotel, making good use of the excellent pool. 

This evening, before dinner, we took a walk out intending to visit the large park area called the Maidan.  Crossing the roads proved to be quite a challenge - even the locals found it difficult to dodge the high speed cars, taxis, motor bikes and ancient buses.  We didn't get as far as we intended and, instead, returned to visit the street markets nearer our hotel.  Very noisy!

After our meal, we turned in for an early night - still rather jet-lagged.
