Ah Blackpool. What happened?
You used to me so exciting. So much fun. A sugary, neon wonderland. So many wonderful childhood memories.

You have a special place in my heart. But today twenty odd years on, you looked tired. Beaten up even.

Your tower seemed smaller (now I'm bigger), your promenade looked jaded and you were full of discount stores and pound shops.

I had a work meeting in the town. Had a great drive up the M6 this morning through frosty landscapes; but was sad to see what I found waiting for me at the end.

Can it be saved? It will take some doing but I think it's possible. Blackpool has such a special place in peoples' hearts, especially in the North West.

Today was like seeing an old friend that has fallen on hard times. I just hope someone comes along and picks them up before it's too late.
