Dead Women Walking
I was walking back to the tram this morning after hosting a coffee morning with book club and noticed a large sea of red ponchos walking towards me.
Dead Women Walking is to raise awareness of the women behind the statistics of domestic violence murders. The 'Murder March' is to remember and represent those murdered in the UK by partners, ex-partners and family members.
During the walk, the names of all the women killed in the last 12 months were read out. The ladies wearing the red ponchos were carrying candles and framed photos of the women; their daughters, their sisters and their friends.
It was a very powerful and unsettling image that walked past me today, a situation that no-one should ever have to experience.
