No Smoking!
As no smoking signs go, I do not think there is a more powerful one than this anywhere on the planet. It is to be found on the wall of Yorkhill Children's hospital. This image obliviously didn't have the same impact on others as it did to me, there were still people puffing yards away from this sign.
We were at Yorkill for an out-patient appointment to see how my youngest's hips were doing. She was born with bilateral dislocatable hips and spent her first few months in Von Rossen splint. X rays looked good and the surgeon seemed happy enough after examining her. Great news for a Friday. Back in 6 months!
She really is a wee inspiration to us all. She got put in the splint on the 6th day of her life and she really took it all in her stride - I really think that it was a worse experience for us than it was her. She is a constant reminder to me about the internal strength that all human beings have inside. If a wee smurfette can put up with being splinted for all that time then I can put with a wee sniffle or a wee niggling pain without grumping about it.
