RELIANT ROBIN

Actually I think I'm more reliant on the robin for a blip than it is on me!

I had an upsetting phone conversation with a friend of Mum's today - Mum told me Val had rung her with some bad news, but Mum's hearing is so awful at the moment she couldn't really hold a proper conversation, so I rang Val back. She's recently been diagnosed with dementia, and from what I could hear it sounds as though she's deteriorating fairly rapidly. It's so sad. She's been the mainstay of a troublesome family and a very dependent alcoholic husband, and she has recently given up work at the age of 76. If anyone deserved a peaceful retirement it's Val.
