mushroom gills

A hectic day with little accomplished left little time to take pictures today, so on the way home from my studio monitor (babysitting) job, while buying some cat food, I got one of those really big mushrooms to use as a subject. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out how to transfer this design to clay, including trying dried ones. plaster casts (which cook the mushroom while setting) and alginate which doesn't provide much detail. I haven't hit on a good way yet.

I love the rhythmic beauty and repetition of the gills.

Today, I am grateful for the day I was given, the opportunity to help friends although I am not sure how much help I gave, the beautiful sky and golden light at dusk.
