Roots Of Jazz
In January I went to a jazz concert at a church in Reading - an event called ‘The Roots of Jazz’. I wrote about it in this blip here. The band were performing again this evening in Goring-on-Thames and I went with a couple of friends.
The first half is music interspersed with the history of jazz music, born out of slavery, showing the parallel to the story of slavery and redemption in the Bible. The second half is straight jazz. The whole thing is extremely well done and the musicians were amazing to listen to. In March they’ll be performing in my church in Maidenhead. Looking forward to that!
In other news - I had a repair engineer visit today to investigate the loud screeching sound coming out of my NEW tumble dryer. Of course, it was on its best behaviour the whole time he was there, running various cycles. Thankfully, I had taken a video of the screeching at its worst, so he couldn’t help but believe me. But how can he repair something that seemed to be working perfectly today? I wonder if I will have to call him out again?
