Lucy and Jake
November trip - backblip 3
A late start after a late night! In to Leeds station with Lu and Jake to catch a train to Wakefield. Our paths crossed with Tom's on the station concourse - he'd just got off a train on his way back to Batley. Good to talk with him for a short while before we went our separate ways.
In Wakefield we walked to the Hepworth to go to their Christmas Market. Some fabulous things for sale - textiles, ceramics, jewellery, prints, candles, stationery, and all sorts of other things, made by some very talented people. We were surprisingly very restrained, and spent very little! Unfortunately no time to visit the exhibitions, but just time for a late lunch of wood-fired pizza before making our way to the station.
Hadn't taken any photos before we reached the station - too dull and damp outside - so Lucy and Jake posed in front of a mural! Then I waved them off on their train back to Leeds and, a couple of minutes later, caught my train to Peterborough. Something very civilised about travelling 1st class! (Only because, bizarrely, a 1st-class ticket cost £6 less than a standard fare when I booked!) Having just eaten, I refused the complimentary food but enjoyed a coffee.
Managed to locate MrM in the hell that is Peterborough station's car park, and he drove us to Yaxham Mill in Norfolk, our 'home' for two nights.
Turns out that poor MrM's weekend hadn't gone at all to plan. Jimmy, the musician friend he had gone to visit, tripped up early on Friday evening, before they had played a note. They spent the rest of the evening, until the early hours, in A&E - unfortunately, Jimmy fractured his elbow so badly that it needs to be pinned, and he'll not be playing fiddle for several months. So MrM stayed and helped Jimmy until his wife returned from Leeds, where she's also been visiting children.
