Aphids

I awoke to sunshine and a view of the mountains! The first glimpse for a week! Of course, the clouds came down soon after, but it was nice to to be assured that the mountains were still there and that the sun can shine at full strength.

The garden was busy with all sorts of tiny creatures. The most numerous are the aphids. I don’t spray them, but trust to ladybirds and other predators. Today the bronze fennel was alive with them. Although there are clusters of greenfly, individuals are spread out all over the plant. Look carefully to see them. In among them ladybirds ran gobbling them up. A lot of blossom flies (march flies) were active too. I think they were sucking up the honeydew that the aphids leave. Over them all was a robber fly,  just soaking up the sunshine.
