Clearwell Caves

This morning I decided my work could wait for the day, after two months of pretty much non-stop, early starts and late finishes and feeling like we are on call 24/7 I needed to concentrate on other matter.  So this morning was Daddy admin, who knew someone very very retired could have so much monthly paperwork!!  I have put all of his deferred care payment invoices onto a spreadsheet so that I can keep better track of what’s going on and the amounts that are being placed onto his property for his care and I am pleased I did as I found a couple of anomalies in amounts.   This afternoon we went to Clearwell Caves in Gloucestershire.  Chris joined me last minute, he wasn’t going to but decided he wanted to start the weekend as he is back off to Germany next week.

Snippet from Clearwell Caves website:

Few places on earth can capture the magic of the Christmas season – which is why we’ve captured it under the earth in our magical caves. In our ever popular Christmas Spectacular you and the kids can follow our seasonal story – Cora and the Bloobious Bright – through exciting displays, meet Father Christmas in his Grotto, choose a present and halfway through discover Christmas stalls selling gifts, decorations, stocking fillers and seasonal treats. Our underground cafe will be open for you to enjoy a welcome hot chocolate and cake, before you continue on your journey.

We were the only one there so had the whole cave to ourselves, fantastic to photo…no people but the light was very challenging and I only had ISO to work.

The story is really cute, and I am sure little ones will love it but for adults with no children such as us, it was more about how lovely the caves looked and the effort people have put into the decorations.  Chris made up his own version of the story being told and it took quite a evil turn…. we laughed so much!  Adult humour!!

We then made a huge mistake and went food shopping….never again on a Friday afternoon!

Home now and we are going to do a lamb stir fry.  Tomorrow we have carpet to rip up and Sunday we plan on another Christmas event.  Loving being home for Christmas.
