Anne's Daily Encounters

The quiet after Storm Diana

Yesterday 10 Beaufort the Northern storm that landed on Crete and I wasn't here in Chania harbour then. I learned that lighthouse Faros, what you can see in the distance disappeared time and again in the waves beating onto the wall.  Yesterday it must have been pretty dangerous to walk the quay along Chania's Venetian harbour, coz of the high waves that beated it and wetted it with power. Today the quay was bewetted time and again too, but no longer with that gale raging in this pond-like harbour ~ took this photo in the afternoon, when hardly a soul on the streets and I looked into the North.

This morning we got back to the village with the olive oil plant in order to collect what's produced of our lot. Almost 400 kilo's of olives we'd collected the other day and having the former results in mind, I and sweetheart had expected the olive oil would be some 80 kilo's, it turned out to be a little less coz of yesterday's powercut. But again Extra Vergin its quality! Happy all went well in the end! And there are more olives to be picked!!
