Jude and her "garlands"

It's time for Jude Siegel's annual art show, and this year the surprise was a series of "garlands," small watercolor paintings strung together around theme, either by color or by subject matter. Sue and I took Sue's dear friend Sarah, who tells us "moving through old age takes great courage." Sarah's spine is crumbling, and because of her age and poor health, she and her physicians have concluded that surgery is impossible. She lives with the pain, and sometimes she is able to use a wheelchair to get around, but for Jude's show, which takes place in Jude's living space and studio, Sarah made do with her cane. Not even the pain could dim her enthusiasm for Jude's wild spirit and her work. Portrait of Sarah is an Extra.
