Tree on Morning Hill, Peebles

We had our first snowfall of the winter last night. It was very tranquil outside as it fell silently, the snowflakes only visable as they passed through the orange glow of the street lights. The morning was sunny with clear blue skies. I took this photograph because I liked the way the snow had melted underneath the tree leaving a green circle of grass, and I liked the linear effects of the grass and the light in the foreground. In the Spring this field is full of lambs, once they are gone, the grass is left to grow to make hay. This year the farmer only cut some of the grass leaving the rest of turn yellow and brown - I glad he did as it contrasted beautifully with the blue sky of this morning.
