Will I or Won’t I?

A praying mantis nymph sizing up a female currant clearwing moth. It was the smallest clearwing I have seen. The mantis was 15mm long- I measured it. Keep in mind that the appearance of the mantis peering at the camera is an optical illusion due to the structure of its eyes. It was definitely looking at the moth. Its face was turned that way. Anyway, it decided not to tackle the moth.

There was a welcome break from the gloom today. We were treated to big patches of blue sky, bright sunshine, mountains and a gusty warm nor’wester.
