Unexpected musical treat!
Walking through the zócalo (plaza) on my way to the market, I came upon a group of young musicians, all marimba players, setting up for a concert. They were from 4 schools located in villages not too far from the city of Oaxaca. I finished my shopping and went back to the zócalo and waited awhile for them to begin. How glad I was that I waited, as they were spectacular! Each of the four groups wowed the crowd with 3 songs and then all of them joined together for another few songs and several encores! The skill and enthusiasm (and beautiful outfits) of these young musicians was wonderful to see!
Extras are of them putting together the marimbas and one whole group.
