Callendar Wood

A cold, frosty and a little bit slippery start to the day, our Tuesday walk with Cumbernauld & Kilsyth Ramblers was in the Callendar Estate in Falkirk.

Starting near Callendar House, we walked along a short stretch of the Antonine Wall before retracing our steps and then walking through the former arboretum and up into Callendar Wood. We zigzagged our way along a number of paths and trails before reaching the highest point of the Estate, from where there were excellent views over the River Forth. Even the Kelpies got in on the act! (see extra)

A long loop brought us back to our starting point, by which time the sun had broken through and blessed us with some blue skies. Still pretty cold, all the same.
