Absolute silence.....

then a Raven cronked,
a Crested Tit trilled,
two Roe Deer lifted their heads,
paused in their grazing;
I moved on,
crunching and cracking on frozen ground.
Only went in over one boot later!!! It was cold! I found the only unfrozen bit!
Later, socks and boots changed, the sun came out and the sky was blue, but temperatures only rose to 1C all day.
