A Christmas Window

Dear Diary,

One of the things I love about cities are the lengths some stores go to create Christmas windows.  This one is in Portland.  The little paper purses on the white tree were quite fun but it was the miles of paper chains that opened up a memory for me.   If I had a dollar for every foot of paper chain I've made over the years I would be buying my ticket for a nice winter break in the Caribbean right now.  Fashioning things of paper at Christmas was the thing to do.

It also reminded me of how I use to take my high school students to New York City every December to go to the museums and also to shop along Fifth Avenue and check out the amazing window displays.  I worked in display for Jordan Marsh for a short time and it was such fun.  There is a toy store near me that always does a lovely window.  I think I'll check it out later today.  She always does a creative job.
