.........  does it take to start up an organ?

I've spent most of the day in our local church listening to some talented choirs starting with children from one of the local junior schools (where my daughters attended some 40 years ago, eeek) who were brilliant and all the other choirs were too. The volunteer kitchen staff plied us with a continuous flow of tea/coffee, mince pies, cakes and biscuits and even mulled wine.  The last performance was a group of organists from N.Staffs who seemed to have great trouble in finding how to turn the organ on, but once they had got it cranked up we  were eventually entertained with some grand Christmas organ pieces.
