Fading Fast
For a short while this afternoon a faint rainbow of hope appeared over Huish Park when we took an unexpected 1-0 lead oagainst Forest Green Rovers. Although we'd played better and with much more spirit than in recent games, FGR were still the better, more fluent team and, even when they had a player sent off a few minutes later, they continued to play the more purposeful football.
We managed to hang on until the end of normal time but, sure enough, they managed to score 2 goals in the 7 minutes of added time; to rub salt into the wound, the winning goal came from a big deflection that wrong-footed our keeper.
We probably deserved a draw but, once again, our tactical naivety was our downfall. Any hopes of a challenge for promotion are fading as fast as that rainbow and we're more likely to be fighting to avoid relegation once again.
To add insult to injury, we got soaked walking back to the car.
