Art Deco

This is one of the few cinemas in the country designed in the Art Deco format. Originally part of the Odeon chain it came under threat several times for demolition. The only way forward was to modify it to multi-screen to make financially more viable.
I have fond memories of coming here as a lad to the Saturday morning offerings for the 'Minors' Club. It cost 6d and with the bus fare it used up most of my pocket money. So a trip here was a special occasion !! hahaha
