Lucerne: last backblip
Although I took over 300 photos on our getaway to Lucerne, I have now run out of backblip space!
The main shot shows our hotel on the left "Wilden Mann" (literally Wild Man!) It's set in the old part of town full of character and lovely old architecture. This shows an evening shot and people, holding their umbrellas, on their way to the Christmas market which you can just see in the adjoining street.
Extras:
- The hotel sign
- The cow-bell ringers! Yes, this is really a tradition and I love it! The bells are deep and loud and the men make them ring by knocking them against their thighs! This went on for several hours, right into the night to celebrate St. Nicholas who came out too to give little gifts to all the children in the streets!
- One of the Christmas market stands where I bought several lovely home-crafted gifts for presents.
- Interesting 16th century architecture opposite our hotel. The beautiful door and an interesting swirl to the base of a turning staircase.
We enjoyed this town so much, we said we would return again for a visit in the warmer months. One of the charms from this winter visit were all the festive decorations.
