Another pub
I am unlikely to venture into, though it has to be commended for its brave interpretation even if that does discourage a fair percentage of passing tirade.
Whilst Rochester High Street is notable for its wonderful architecture, much of it extremely old, its pubs are strangely soul-less. But as you venture towards Chatham a series of micro-breweries pops up. Closest to the Rochester end is The Flipping Frog, whose all wood and no cushions style seems to attract the 40-55 age range. Closest to the Chatham end is The Dead Pigeon where there is a bit more chrome and upholstered vinyl and seems, from the outside, for I have not ventured in, to attract the 25-40 age range. In the middle is 12 Degrees, or as they like to display their name; DEG12EES. This has a nice variety of furniture including church pews and patchwork cushions, a well designed bar, and some nice little rooms and corners where you can be more private. This seems to attract the over 55s and, not surprisingly, is my favourite so far.
This study of local hostelries has been built up gradually while in the company of visiting friends, and not all researched unaccompanied in a single binge weekend. I just thought I should explain that.
