Salvage from the Wreckage

Despite going to bed very tired, I woke at 4:00 in the morning. Went out at 6:00 for a run. Good way to see the city. People cooking on the alleys, commuters on scooters.
Breakfast at the hotel then we taxied to the office for a day of meetings. We spent most of our time in one small meeting room which, in an Anglophile gesture, was called “Old Trafford”.
At lunchtime, we all, Vietnamese and Brits, had lunch in a cafe on the ground floor of the office block. I had a chicken noodle soup which was delicious although the locals relish the “connective tissue” part of chicken so I tended to leave the bits of bird uneaten.
The office block was one of 4 that, collectively, make up “e-Town” - a high tech hub.
At the end of the day, we taxied back to the hotel and, after a quick turn-around, walked out to meet our hosts at a local restaurant. A huge variety of food and the waitresses would pour your (Tiger) beer into your glass at every opportunity - and then replace the empty bottle with a new one despite the full glass.
The (young) Vietnamese are really friendly. The Brit managers from the outsourcing company seemed to be a bit of a throwback to colonial/ex-pat sort of times.
Afterwards, two of us walked back to the hotel whilst the other two went out for another beer or two. Apparently they had a hard time avoiding the attentions of some professional ladies...
