That’s a good Vantage point

We arrived at our hotel in Peterborough at 10.35pm for an overnight stop enroute for Glenridding on Ullswater for a 4 night stay.

It’s been one of those days where things all conspired against us. Plans were turned on their head first thing when we found we had to take Doreen for an emergency eye appointment at 3.45 in Strood 30 minutes from where we live.

It’s a long, long story suffice to say that poor communication meant we hadn’t received a call from the NHS. Someone rang us a couple of times a week ago, didn’t leave a message and withheld their number. We always ignore those sorts of calls. The lady from the department concerned wasn’t interested in our plight or the fact that an emergency appointment could have ruined our trip.

As it turned out, Doreen may have to go to hospital for treatment this week but we’ve left arranging transport in her other daughter’s hands should the need arise while we’re away.

We had a million and one things to do, not only for ourselves in town but also other tasks that needed doing for Doreen, let alone packing and getting everything together for the trip.

As usual the Dartford Crossing conspired against us with one of the tunnels closed bringing out the worst in motorist who whizzed past the queue and pushed in at the very end. Loads of examples of bad driving throughout the journey this evening. Other roadworks and speed restrictions got in the way too meaning a 2 hour trip took a further 20 minutes.

Thankful to be at the hotel and unwinding for a few minutes with a hot drink. Only one opportunity for a blip today. Thank you JohnEdward for hosting Mono Monday with the theme of Vantage. Not very original and certainly not as interesting a blip as my one for last week.
