Thank You, Dr. Gonzo

My Dear Princess & Dear Fellows,

Like me, Lemon suffers with hayfever. In fact, she gets it worse than I do, her skin breaks out and her eyes itch. However, she has it under control.

"Dr. Gonzo recommends that you have antihistamine in your system at all times, even if you're not feeling the effects of hayfever," she told me.

Consequently, I've been taking it EVERY SINGLE DAY for the past two weeks, even when the pollen-count is low. And blow me down it seems to have had some effect. At least I think so. I've gone about 10 days without incident which, given this is NZ summertime*, is pretty good.

"Dr. Gonzo was my GP even when I was little," said Lemon. "I love that he's still treating me now, and even treating my children."

"DON'T call him Dr. Gonzo! It is Dr. GONZALES!" said his grumpy receptionist. "He doesn't like it!"

"But I've been calling him Dr. Gonzo for YEARS," Lemon retorted.

"I know!" said the receptionist sourly, "And he doesn't like it every time!"

Regardless of his nomenclature, I've been enjoying the weather so far. It hasn't got TOO hot yet. Although Feefs did send us a video message of The Big Nipper taking a dive in their outside pool.

I say pool. They bought one of those big plastic ones and filled it in their back garden. The video shows Big Nipper lowering himself in, and then giving forth with a girlish "yeeeek!" when the water hits his bits.

The poor man. There is no dignity to be found on Facebook.

Finally, here is a picture of a tui on a flax plant. I often see the same tui on this same plant on my way home, drinking the nectar and having a big chirp. It's a very NZ image, as flax is used to make Kete bags amongst other things.

I just think tuis are beautiful birds, however I suspect the locals think I am a moron, taking picture after picture of them. It's probably akin to being amazed at the appearances of pigeons around careless holidaymakers in the UK.

S.

p.s. The first official day of summer was just over a week ago. And this video has been doing the rounds ever since.
